Key Responsibilities
- Greet electors and verify that they meet the criteria to vote
- Assist in set up and takedown of the voting station
- Maintain the ballots, ballot box and voting compartment
- Assist electors with completion of Forms or their Statement of Elector Eligibility
- Provide instruction to electors for completing their ballot
- Ensure Compliance with legislative requirements in conducting the election
- Assist counting ballots after voting stations are closed
- Maintain peace and order in the voting station
- Carry out communications as directed by the Returning Officer
- Assist scrutineers on the proper procedures within the voting station

Competencies
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills and ability to work with a wide range of demographics
- Ability to exercise sound judgement, discretion, professionalism, and diplomacy in dealing with the public
- Conflict resolution skills with the ability to handle difficult people or challenging situations
- Ability to discretely handle sensitive information while maintaining confidentiality
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to handle work in a high volume with short timelines
- Ability to effectively organize and prioritize workload based on the impact/effect on public safety
- Experience working an election is considered an asset
Job Requirements
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Must be 18 years of age
- Requirement to print and speak fluently in English
- Available to complete mandatory training
- Available for Advance Vote and/or Election Day as detailed in application
- Ability to discretely handle sensitive information while maintaining confidentiality
- Ability to exert moderate/ high physical strength in moving and lifting equipment (30-50lbs.) and to work in a standing or seated position for long periods of time
- Have your own transportation or arrangements to arrive at the voting station for work
- Cannot be actively involved in campaigning for any candidate(s) while employed as an Election Officer
- Experience working in an election is considered an asset but not required
