Mobile App Privacy Policy
The purpose of this statement is to inform App users regarding the collection and use of user data. This Policy is not intended, and should not be interpreted, as a contract of any nature, either stated or implied.
User Data
User data is information that is automatically collected by the App or service providers about App use, devices used on the App, and/or device locations.
Information Collection
The App may collect voluntarily provided identifiers including names, addresses, email addresses, phone numbers and billing information if forms are submitted.
Additionally, when visiting our website, we may collect internet-related information which includes cookies, third-party tracking technologies and server logs.
Please rest assured that our Services will only collect personal information that is knowingly and willingly provided. Personal information will only be used for the purpose for which it was requested and any additional uses specifically provided in the Services.
We may also gather device information such as the type of browser used, IP address, type of operating system, and/or type of device used. This data is collected in an anonymized, aggregated manner which prevents identification of individual users and allows us to enhance the App’s functionality, monitor and address technical issues, and maintain a quality user experience.
Purpose
The App allows users to:
- follow relevant news and updates,
- report a service request to the Town, and
- access push notifications.
Third-party
service providers assist with providing notifications, as described below.
Push Notifications
Push notifications through the App are provided by 14 Oranges Software Inc. This service provider requires device information to issue notifications. 14 Oranges Software Inc. will collect and store user data which is not personally identifiable and includes device information such as operating system and hardware version, settings, browser type, device language, time zone, country, location, app version, how often the App is accessed, and IP addresses used to connect to the App.
Users are able to disable notifications on their devices and may opt-in/out of receiving various types of notifications in the App itself. The Town reserves the right to send urgent notifications through the App and add or remove features at any time.
Location Services
Your voluntarily provided location can be used to provide your relative location compared to locations of interests provided in the app.
Disclosure of User Data
The Town does not sell user data to outside companies or organizations or monetize the data in any other manner.
Updates
The Town of Blackfalds may update this Privacy Policy, at any time, to reflect changes in the App’s features or legal requirements. Significant revisions will be communicated through in-app notifications.
