GARBAGE & RECYCLING COLLECTION

The seasonal yard waste pick-up program has ended. The program will start up again in May 2026!

Every year when spring arrives, get ahead of the game by cleaning up your yard and preparing for the warm days ahead.

Between May and October weekly collection of yard waste also takes place on your designated collection day. Please see the Yard

The most efficient way to begin your spring cleanup is to start is at the top, by pruning trees, trimming hedges and cleaning gutters.
After that, work your way down. Protect your deck by cleaning and staining it, close the pool and start composting. Finish on the
ground with a little lawn maintenance, garden sweep and overall assessment.

Twice a year, Town crews pick up household items and yard waste that are not typically put in the garbage.

Please follow these guidelines:

• Place all items for disposal on the edge of your property in your back lane. Items inside your property will not be picked up.
• Sort items into piles of wood, metal, and dry ruble waste.
• Grass, sod, and compost must be bagged or put in a manageable container.
• Clean up is intended for household and yard waste only.
• Construction waste, car parts, and hazardous waste will NOT be picked up.

Spring Round-Up Pick Up Schedule

The annual Spring Round-Up is scheduled for May 11 to 15!

All items must be placed for pick up on the Tuesday of that week. Items not registered will be the responsibility of the property owner.

Fall Round-Up Pick Up Schedule

The annual Fall Round-Up is scheduled for Oct 13 - 16!

All items must be placed for pick up on the Tuesday of that week. Items not registered will be the responsibility of the property owner.

Please place recyclables in the blue carts only.

* Residential waste disposal not accepted or any commercial & industrial waste must be taken to the City of Red Deer Waste Management Facility located at 1709 - 40 Ave, Red Deer.

The RV Dump Station is closed for the season!

RV Dump Station

The 4-bay RV dump station is located east of the Wadey Centre at 4400 South St.

There is no cost for using the dump station. 

Batteries in Garbage or Recycling Cause Fires

Batteries need to be disposed of as e-waste or hazardous waste so they can be carefully handled to prevent these fires.

Batteries pose a very serious fire risk when disposed of improperly. When batteries end up in the garbage or recycling they often get punctured or crushed, which can damage the separation between the cathode and anode, causing them to catch fire or explode.

In addition to the fire danger, batteries can also contain toxic chemicals, including lithium, cadmium, sulfuric acid and lead.

For these reasons DO NOT put batteries in the garbage or mix them in with your recycling.
